‘Labahita’ may help Tubbataha Reef

A Surgeon fish named locally as ‘Labahita’ is believed to help heal faster the damages brought by the foreign vessels in the Tubbataha reef in the country, Philippines.

The Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF)-Philippines believed that this fish is of big help in regeneration of the coral reef. The fish has the ability of continuously grazing on algae keeping the seaweeds to take over the exposed rocks which then allowing coral larvae to settle on the scars brought by the two vessels.
