Goodbye Ishy

Could you still remember that I left Ishy on his foster master? Yeah, I did that because of some personal stuff that I need to do and work with it on. As far as I don’t want her to get away from me, I really need to do it.

Seeing the image above, that was taken on July 2011, seems like Ishy was so in to her new house though I didn’t changed her aquarium and aquarium accessories inside. She was there for more than a month in that house. I supposed to fetch her as scheduled on the third week of August 2011, however, I have had my scheduled trip also, a quick mini vacation going home for 5 days up to the last day of such month. Thence, I decided to just fetch her up as soon as I could go back here in Cebu.

As promised to myself, just the day after I arrived, I visited Ishy together with M, since he arrived that day also from Manila and he wanted to see Ishy also. But with our excited, we were seeing Ishy so very weak and doesn’t move that quick and excited as we expected. In less than an hour of seeing her, while M was checking her aquarium, Ishy died.

I am missing her so much now. M suggested me to buy new flowerhorn fish again. But I still am grieving with Ishy’s loss. I can’t decided yet for now.

Working with your Home Fish Tank

If you’ve decided to keep some pet fish in your home, but don’t know the first thing about caring for fish or maintaining their tank, don’t panic just yet.  Taking care of pet fish isn’t necessarily a difficult task, so long as you know some of the basics and can be prepared for a few regular tasks.  In this article, we’ll mainly focus on the use of a home fish tank, and how to approach cleaning it and picking out the right one.  That way, it will be less daunting to face it yourself when the time comes.

When selecting a fish tank, think about all the factors that may play into what you need.  First, count the number of fish you plan on holding in it.  While a single fish or two may only need a moderately sized tank, if you plan to house half a dozen or more, you’ll need a considerably larger tank.  Also, think about design.  Do you want a plain, boxy looking fish tank, or when that’s been customized to look like a specific shape, or one that just has a unique, whimsical design?  That can boil down to how you plan to use the fish tank as a decorative object as well, meaning you’ll have to decide between using it as a centerpiece for a room’s design, or just as a home for the fish that you tuck away on that small table near the window in the living room.

The fish tank build will also play into how you maintain the tank.  A tank with flat, straight sides and a rectangular base can more easily fit in most spaces, and it’s much easier to check for possible cracks that are forming in tanks of this design.  Tanks with unusual shapes may be harder to check, and more importantly for your consideration, multiple times more difficult to clean.  If you pick out a fish tank with a bunch of unusual bends and corners, it may be hard to reach there during cleanings, and a fish tank has to be cleaned fairly often to help ensure the safety and health of the fish inside it.

If this all sounds like a lot to take in, don’t let it overwhelm you.  There are always self-cleaning tanks available, and you can always go simple if you want to avoid the more complicated aspects of fish tank care and maintenance.  Besides, once you figure this all out, you’ll be able to enjoy the company of some pet fish, without questioning whether you’re ready to deal with them or not.

Aquarium Accessory Shopping

When I had my 5-day vacation last week at home, I and my mom had a chance to visit one of the big pet shops in Davao City. Since my brother asked my mom to buy some fish foods for his fishes, we considered it the best day to drop by and shop for some goodies then.

I bought a battery-operated submersible water air-pump. I have been looking for such item here in Cebu but failed to find one. Since I already gotten there and found an air-pump, I really made sure not to forget to grab.

However, just when I stepped out from the plane during my flight back here in Cebu last Tuesday, I just remembered that I forgot to get the air-pump from where my mom has placed it near the aquarium shelf of my brother. Smiley

That was a big mistake I did – forgetting what I was excited to use for. Grrrrr..

Anyway, aside from shopping for some aquarium accessories, I and my mom also took some time to buy toys for my niece and nephews and also, we check for new shoes and other footwear. I was planning to buy shoes on sale but since I only have a limited bucks in my wallet, my eyes were just only until staring at those lovely shoes I saw. If and only if I have Footsmart coupons or Zappos shoes coupons, I really won’t hesitate to grab all of the shoes that I love. Coupons, for instance, from those mentioned above, are very helpful to those shoppers, like me, because of the discounted and promo items offered. Those coupons are also suitable and available to be used to many shopping centers and malls in the world.
